Day 16: Agenda 21

February 13, 2013

Today I presented two of my bills in committee:

SJR011Joint Resolution on Environmental and Developmental Policies rejects United Nations Agenda 21 and urges state and local governments across the United States to reject it and any grant money or financial aid attached to it. SJR011 says Agenda 21, adopted in 1992, is a plan for sustainable development that views private property ownership, single family homes, private car ownership, individual travel choices, and privately owned farms as destructive to the environment. And that social justice is described as the right and opportunity of all people to benefit equally from the resources afforded citizens by society and the environment, which would be accomplished by redistribution of wealth. Passed with one dissenting vote.

SB 140 Service Area Board of Trustees amends language related to the creation of and membership of the board of trustees of certain types of local districts and to the creation of certain types of local districts exempt from an election requirement, particularly those created to provide fire protection, paramedic, and emergency services. Passed unanimously.

Also, in Senate Business and Labor, we passed two bills:

SB0094 Government Records Amendments (Bramble) ) provides for the creation of a publicly accessible repository, on the Legislature’s website, of email that legislators transfer to the repository; provides for circumstances under which an email may be removed from the repository; specifies that failure to transfer an email to the repository does not affect its classification; modifies the membership of the State Records Committee; and makes initiative and referendum packets submitted to county clerks public records.

HB0071 Mobile and Manufactured Home Amendments (Roberts) addresses conditions for treating a mobile home or manufactured home as real property.
